Amazon has announced the acquisition of Regional Health Systems, one of the largest independent hospital networks in the United States, in a deal valued at $38 billion. The move represents Amazon's most aggressive entry into direct healthcare delivery.
Strategic Vision
The acquisition will give Amazon direct control over 340 hospitals and 2,800 clinics across 28 states. Combined with Amazon Pharmacy and One Medical, the company is building an end-to-end healthcare ecosystem.
"Healthcare is broken, and we believe technology and customer obsession can fix it," said Amazon CEO Andy Jassy in a press release.
