Tesla has officially launched its long-awaited robotaxi service in ten major US cities including New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Phoenix, Seattle, Denver, and Austin.
How It Works
The service operates through the Tesla app, where users can hail a fully autonomous Model Y vehicle. The cars operate without any safety driver, relying entirely on Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) v14 software and a suite of cameras and sensors.
Pricing
Rides are priced at approximately 60% less than traditional ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft. A typical 10-mile trip costs between $8-12, making it one of the most affordable transportation options available.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk called it "the biggest leap in transportation since the Model T."
